CHRISTUS Ochsner Health rings in hope with new celebration bell for oncology patients

The CHRISTUS Ochsner SWLA Foundation dedicated a new celebration bell at the Ochsner CHRISTUS Cancer Center – Lake Area Campus clinic, thanks to a generous gift from Investar Bank.

Bell ringing ceremonies are a cherished tradition in oncology, marking the end of treatment or significant milestones in a patient’s journey.

“We are thrilled to introduce this celebration bell to our oncology clinic and are so grateful for the donor, Investar Bank, who made it all possible,” said Patricia Prudhomme, executive director of philanthropy, CHRISTUS Ochsner SWLA Foundation. “This new celebration bell will help our oncology teams create moments of joy and celebration for patients, their families and staff, fostering future celebrations of courage and strength for years to come.”

As Investar Bank’s first contribution to the clinic, the gift highlights the financial institution's longstanding commitment to the community.

With a true passion for helping others, Abshire served on the CHRISTUS Ochsner SWLA Foundation board of directors in various positions, including president and vice president roles, for 12 years from 2011-2023.
