Junior Volunteer Program - Ages 15-17
Junior Volunteer Program Requirements:
- Application: Includes the volunteer application, vaccine verification (signed by school nurse or PCP), and written essays.
- Applications open March 1 and close April 1.
- Phone Interview: A brief phone screening with a member of the Volunteer Services team.
- Information Session: Attendance is mandatory for one of the information sessions listed.
- In-person (5:30–6:30 PM): February 17, February 24, March 5, or March 17
- Virtual (5:30–6:30 PM): April 2
- If selected to become a Junior volunteer
- Orientation: Date to be determined.
About the Junior Volunteer Program:
The Junior Volunteer Program offers high school students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting. Junior volunteers assist in various departments such as the Child Life Zone, information desk, outpatient surgery, and more.
This is a competitive program designed for motivated, dedicated, and compassionate students who are eager to learn and contribute. The summer session runs for six weeks, with a total commitment of 32 volunteer hours.

Requirements for Adult Volunteering
- Volunteers must be 18 years old or older (unless applying for our Junior Volunteer Program)
- Submission of a completed application (includes two references)
- Completion of formal interview
- Consent to and pass a required background check
- Completion of required health screening
- Completion of all require volunteer forms
- Vaccine requirements to volunteer include:
- Measles/mumps/rubella (MMR): two doses or serological evidence of immunity
- Varicella (chickenpox): two doses or serological evidence of immunity
- Tetanus/ diptheria/ pertussis (Tdap) within last 10 years. Boosters are due every 10 years.
- Flu vaccination during each season as an active volunteer
- Completion of general volunteer orientation
- Completion of orientation in assigned service area
- Agreement to volunteer for 100 hours
