Meet Jana Sullivan, APRN, CNM
Jana Sullivan, MSN, CNM, joined CHRISTUS Children’s in 2023 to establish a nurse midwife program. Jana is dedicated to ensuring the implementation of the highest level of evidence-based midwifery and OB-GYN care for women and adolescents. She provides prenatal care in an outpatient setting and delivers babies at CHRISTUS Children’s and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westover Hills.
Prior to joining CHRISTUS, Jana worked as a nurse midwife for another health care system in San Antonio where she served as director of advanced practice providers, overseeing midwives, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in the OB-GYN department. In 1997, Jana began her nursing career in the U.S. Army. During her time in the Army, she obtained a Master of Nursing – Midwifery from State University of New York – Stony Brook. From 2002-2006, she worked in private practice in Atlanta and South Carolina. She moved to San Antonio in 2006 to work as a nurse midwife in a hospital setting. While there, she implemented Centering Pregnancy, a program that combines prenatal care with pregnancy and childbirth education.
Through the years, her career has focused on high-risk obstetrical care including diabetes, fetal conditions and opioid use disorders. Jana is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board. Jana enjoys spending time with her family. She has a special affection for dogs and cats and volunteers with rescue organizations.
