Pediatric Orthopedics

Kids fall and get hurt every day while being active and having fun. Children are different than adults because their bodies are still growing. All members of our team specialize in pediatric orthopedics and taking care of growing kids.

Pediatric Orthopedic Care

Sedation Services at CHRISTUS Children’s

Some procedures can be uncomfortable, painful, or require kids to stay very still. Our pediatric sedation team helps children stay calm, relaxed, and safe during these tests and treatments. Depending on what’s needed, your child may be awake but relaxed, or deeply asleep, while still breathing on their own.

We provide sedation for procedures such as:

  • Broken bone care: casting, setting, pin removal
  • Central venous line insertion and/or removal
  • Imaging tests: MRI, nuclear medicine, or CT scans
  • Urinary catheter insertion and/or removal
  • Minor surgeries
  • Cancer-related procedures: bone marrow tests or lumbar punctures
  • Wound care and bandage changes
  • EEG lead placement and recording
  • Auditory Brainstem Response hearing testing

Our doctors, nurses, and Child Life Specialists work closely with families to make sure your child feels supported and cared for.
